Objectives:
1.
Describe the clinical and economic burden and pathophysiology of ACS.
2. Discuss pharmacological treatment strategies and expected outcomes for
   patients with acute coronary syndrome as recommended by the ACC/AHA
   guidelines for the management of patients with ST-elevation myocardial
   infarction (STEMI).
3. Summarize the latest clinical research, and its potential impact on
   therapy, regarding antithrombotic therapy in the management of patients
   with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), including a
   comparison of the safety and efficacy of unfractionated heparin,
   low-molecular-weight heparin, factor Xa inhibitor therapy, and thrombin
   inhibitors.
4. Describe the role of evidence-based clinical guidelines and performance
   measurement in improving the quality of patient care and the potential
   role of pharmacists in their implementation.
