Riverview contracts with Compressive Pharmacy Services (www.cpspharm.com) to provide pharmacy management. The suitable candidate would be hired by CPS to work at Riverview.

Riverview Psychiatric Center is a 92 bed locked unit state psychiatric hospital located in Augusta, Maine. It serves both civil and forensic adult clients. The hospital services 2 psychiatric medication clinics and 2 dental clinics. The larger of the dental clinics utilizes conscious sedation for treatment of MR/DD clients. Riverview is currently affiliated with 4 different colleges and universities.

We are looking for a clinical pharmacist to work Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm. The position duties include:

Required:

  • Prospectively reviewing orders and entering them into the pharmacy data base
  • Patient chart review
  • Renal monitoring
  • Clozapine Monitoring
  • Patient education
  • Limited outpatient prescription filling ( approx 10 scripts per day)
  • Pharmacy technician oversight
  • Discharge medication preparation

Optional:

  • Precept pharmacy students
  • Committee involvement
  • Research project with an emphasis of publication
  • Creation of clinical programs that will help you grow as a professional or which you have interest
  • Preparation for BCPP exam if not already certified.

Minimum qualifications: Candidate must hold a degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy and be eligible for licensure in Maine. Completion of a PharmD, completed a pharmacy practice residency or has received BCPP certification are preferred but not required.

We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time Staff Pharmacist to work the night shift at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine

This position covers the night shift from 9 PM to 7 AM. It is worked as seven days on and seven days off. This position totals 70 hours over a two week period with pay for 80 hours. This shift is also staffed by certified pharmacy technicians who work closely with the pharmacist.

The Medical Center offers a wide variety of clinical experience in the fields of trauma care, cardiac surgery, neonatal intensive care and oncology as well as the more traditional services offered in a hospital environment. The hospital employs an extensive network of automated dispensing cabinets. The robust clinical information system is centered around Cerner’s Millenium allowing full electronic access to the patient’s medical record. The majority of orders are entered via CPOE.

The Pharmacy Department is seeking an ambitious pharmacist looking to enhance their career with exposure in many different areas of hospital practice. There are numerous opportunities for clinical input via patient rounds, decentralized staffing, pharmacokinetic dosing, drug information, drug therapy monitoring and intervention and many other areas of involvement.

DIRECTOR OF EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION

The School of Pharmacy at Husson College is seeking a dynamic individual to direct their efforts in acquiring and supporting quality educational experiential sites for PharmD students.  Husson College is a small private university in the heart of northern New England founded in the 1890s with a commitment to prepare graduates for successful professional careers.

The Director of Experiential Education will be responsible for identifying and developing Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) sites throughout the region. The successful candidate shall be instrumental in the planning, managing, assuring rotation quality, developing adjunct faculty and implementing all aspects of experiential education.  Teaching, providing service and conducting scholarly activities may also be a component of this position. 

Qualified candidates must possess a PharmD or other terminal pharmacy degree; a minimum of three years of professional pharmacy practice experience; knowledge of various areas of pharmacy practice required; experience and/or significant knowledge of both institutional and community pharmacy desired; prior academic appointment or experience preferred; residency or fellowship or similar professional experience; eligible for Maine pharmacist licensure.

The inaugural class enrollment is anticipated to be 65 students entering the professional program in the fall of 2009.  Innovation in program design and development, partnering with regional healthcare practice and research entities, and collaboration opportunities with Canadian institutions are just some of the priorities envisioned for this new program.

Husson College is located in Bangor, Maine, a gem of a city with approximately 30,000 residents that Henry David Thoreau described as a “star on the edge of the night”.  It is a short drive from Maine’s coasts, forests and mountains, and is approximately 250 miles north of Boston and 250 miles east of Quebec City.
