1. Identify the best bar code format for your pharmacy.

2. Choose an appropriate bar code scanner.

3. Identify the possible methods to add bar codes to medications.

4. Determine the best method for bar coding: outsource or in-house.

5. Identify the time frame required to prepare the pharmacy for BMV.
